Beauty and the Beast

Last night started a big next three weeks for me and it was a great start. I had the priviledge of photographing Fossil Ridge’s first musical. I was really looking forward to it. Disney’s Beauty and the Beast came out in 1991 and I was 11 years old (I am really dating myself here!). It became my favorite Disney movie of all time very quickly. Who doesn’t dream of being a Disney character? That movie got me through a lot of late night babysitting. :) I swear I still have the entire movie memorized (all the rest of the movies I have memorized were forced upon me by my own children, anyone who has had to spend hours awake at night with a sick kid watching “The Jungle Book” or “Finding Nemo” can sympathize).

FRHS does a tremendous job, beautiful costumes, singing, instruments and sets. So go see it!!! Take the kids, they will love it too!

Fossil Ridge High School’s “Beauty and the Beast” is this weekend (April 24,25 & 26 at 7pm).

Photo CD’s will be for sale as always. The gallery should be up early next week. Here is a sneek peek!

Sir “A”

We had fun in Old Town today, although we could have done without the cold wind. I am *in love* with his hair! I had to show both the Black & White and color versions of these two photos, I just couldn’t choose which version I liked best!

Events to check out this month

I promise this weekend I will have some posts with actual photos! But I didn’t want any of you to miss out on some GREAT happenings this month.

FOSSIL RIDGE HIGH SCHOOL is putting on the musical “Beauty & the Beast” on April 24-26. It promises to be a GREAT show and I am really looking forward to photographing it. Photo CDs will be available for this show.

FORT COLLINS HIGH SCHOOL is having the annual “Vaudeville” on May 1-3. This is always a fun event and you get to see a wide variety of students and their talents. Photo CDs will also be available for this show.

PARAGON THEATRE’s next show is “Sight Unseen” and opens May 3rd. I am looking forward to capturing this play and seeing some familiar faces among the cast.

If you have a KRUSE ELEMENTARY 3rd & 4th grader, you’ll want to see their concert on April 24th. The Chime Choir is also performing. It will be a fun event. Come support the students who have worked so hard this year!

Also happening on May 3rd is the 20th Annual MS Walk here in Fort Collins. There are so many ways you can help out… donate to a walker (my link is on the left side of this page), volunteer at the walk, or just show up and cheer the walkers on. Boulder, Colorado Springs & Fort Collins is having a little competition to see who can raise $125,000 first.  I know we can all meet that $125,000 goal! :)

Have a wonderful weekend! Check back soon for some fun sneek peeks!

Summer Schedule

Just a reminder, please schedule your sessions as early as possible. I have ONE session available still on May 10th and then I am booking for June. For more info or to schedule a session, you can email me at etyler@etylerphotography.com. Thanks so much!

Compassion in Africa

My mother went to Africa in February. She sponsors a child there through the group Compassion. Their local newspaper just did an article on her trip. If you are interested in reading it, go here: http://www.yorknewstimes.com/stories/040108/localnews_compassionaf.shtml

It is amazing what we take for granted. Little everyday things that when used up or contaminated or turned off have devastating results. Usually our first reaction is not “how will we survive?” but “how will I take my shower?!” or “I can’t check my email now!”.  We take for granted that even when something is taken away, it is only temporary, and hey.. we can always go somewhere else that does have what we are missing.

Today, take a little time to be thankful for what you have. Not only are our basic needs met, but most of us has family and/or friends to help us through the hard times. Be sure to say thank you (although you may not want to say it today if you don’t usually say mushy stuff like that, they may think you are playing an April Fool’s joke). ;)

May your April be warm and beautiful and full of love.
